Dr. Carol Gilles

Dr. Carol Gilles is an Associate Professor of Literacy Education in the Department of Learning, Teaching and Curriculum at the University of Missouri-Columbia College of Education. She teaches Middle School Language Arts I and II, Talk in the Classroom, Literature for Children and Youth, Whole Language Curriculum, Supporting Struggling Readers, Reading courses for Teaching Fellowship students.
Dr. Gilles's research interests include the connections among oracy, children's literature, and literacy; struggling readers; teacher induction and development.

Summary:Carol Gilles, Associate Professor of Literacy Education describes a three-year teaching and research project involving her MU students and their counterparts at Hebei University in China.
